I still think an electric car powered by fuel cells is the future

I disagree. Batteries are way to inefficient, they take forever to charge (8 plus hows for a full load) they give crap range (50 to 100 miles on a full charge) and they are damn heavy. "According to General Motors the Volt can travel 25 to 50 miles (40 to 80 km) on its lithium-ion battery alone." Now the volt has a Curb weight of 3,781 lb (1,715 kg). compared to a normal honda civic which is about 1,000 lbs less. People ask me why i say my state is run by morons. I give parrishs example. For those who do not know, Indiana used to not change its clocks, had the year we were on EST and the other half we were on CST. To our direct left is IL which is on CST and north of us is MI which is on est. So what? So a few years ago the state decided to join EST, no worries except that some stupid counties that border IL said "screw you guys were joining CST" so the long and the short of it is that some counties in Indiana are on CST and some are on EST. My state is run by morons.

My expirence and tips for an Apple Interview

So i had my interview today, ill try to keep it in chronological order, followed by some notes at the end.

The interview was for 12, i got there around 11:35 after stopping by parrish's awesome new store to check it out.
Dude in an apple tshirt took everyone's name, phone number and email, gave everyone a name tag with their first name on it. There was about 20 of us in total. were all called into a conference room down a hall, there were a bunch of apple people high five'in everyone on their way down the hall and into the room. We sat down three to a table, i made sure i got a table in the middle. The apple people introduced themselves, there were seven of them, the main person leading the interview was Mary Astephan who is an apple recruiter, the rest were made up of mangers and genius's from other apple stores. They all had clip boards and wrote down various notes about people all through the event.

After the introduction we watched a movie about apples retail division, usual propaganda, we sell the $7k per sq/ft which is the most in the retail world, we have over 6.6bil in sales in the last quarter of 2009 ect. It also talked about the individual attention given to customers, i think they said they did over 2.5mil one on on training sessions a year. After the film we were asked some simple questions on it. After that was a lisde show with different apple products, she asked us who has an iblah blah and how awesome is it and what do you use it for, ra ra rah!

The next event was we were to get to know someone near us, find out something unique about them their history and why they want to work for apple. We were going to be giving a talk about the other person so i made sure to feed my guy the proper points i wanted him to point out about me. After we got to know the other person we went around the room and talked to the group about what we found out about the other person. Basically you had to interview the other person then sell them to the group. We went first, got a few laughs out of the group, i think it went well.

After that we watched another video about apple, more about the physical stores, there international locations and the people that work for apple. After the video their were some more questions on it, they just wanted to see then things you picked up on in the video, ex passion for the store, great team environment, awesome locations and what not.

The next major thing we did was break into groups of 5 with one of the people from apple, there was a 6 sided cube with several questions on it, i can't remember all of them but one was, tell us about a time when you went above and beyond for the customer, tell us a time when you had to deal with a condescending customer that talked down to you (really specific for some reason) give us an example of a very difficult technical problem you had to work through. So we went around in a circle and everyone held the cube and gave a response to one of the questions on it. That went on for about 20 min.

The next thing was a slide presentation with video, more focused on the store and the positions in an apple store. The apple stores are divided into 2 sections, one is the "red" zone where you first come in, are greeted and what not. the second zone is where the genius bar is, the one on one training area are ect. The only apple store i've been to is the one on north Michigan street in Chicago, the bottom floor is the red zone and the top floor is the other zone. The presenter also went through the apple store position, genius, expert, family programs, business manager, specialist, Back of house stock manger, ext. After that slide show was over we had a general QA. People asked the usual question, how much do the jobs pay (can't comment) when does the store open (can't comment) how many positions are you going to be filling (can't comment) ect. Now the interesting part is that they were not hiring any geniuses because they already had them in place.

So after the QA we filled out some paper with our info, positions we'd like, full time or part time, availability, what apple products we own ect. Everything wrapped up just after two. At 3:30 i got the call for the second round of interviews for Thursday, and i should know by Friday if i have the job. The second interview is a smaller group with only 2 or three applicants. I'll give that one a run down Thursday night.

Notes:
As i figured they were looking for personality above everything else. Most of the people in the room either had a college degree or were students, there was a nice age range starting and 22 and going up to maybe late 40's early 50's. Depending on who i see for the second round im guessing they chose the people that participated in the conversation. The two other guys seated at me table didn't answer any questions or chime in at any point during the event so i have a feeling they might not be getting a call back. What nice is that there were 6 people besides the presenter keeping an eye on the room so i made sure to make some subtle yet noticeable gestures such as pouring water for the guys at my table, getting chairs for people and things like that. Overall I think i was able to participate in the group discussion with out saying anything too dumb or trying to hard like this one dude at the front of the room who would just not shut the ---- up. Yes you love mac, yes your an artist, yes you've been to blah blah. I'd be surprised if i see him at round 2.

Edit: So as i mentioned all the genius positions had been filled. I found out for a friend of mine that the apple rep in the area had scouted out talent from the best buy across the street so it looks like the genius staff is going to be mostly made up of former best buy people. This does not bring me happiness.

I have a slightly weird addiction (don't we all....) i watch tons of cops, lockup, America's toughest prisons, locked up abroad, street patrol, Jail, The squad prison police, to name a few. I don't really know why, i've never been arrested, no one in my family is in jail, but for some reason i find it really interesting how their is an entire society inside prisons divided among racial lines, with its own hierarchy, [url=http://www.theonion.com/video/prison-economy-spirals-as-price-of-pack-of-cigaret,14327/]economy[/url], and "schools". from what i can see prison is just part of the lifestyle these people lead, with close to an 80% recidivism rate most of the people that are released will end up back inside. So in contrast to what parrish said, prisons should do as much as possible to rehabilitate inmate. its costs something like 18k-30k to house and feed these people who give nothing back to society except to be released, do harm to the community by re-offending, then go right back to jail.
IMHO we should give the inmate as much counseling, job training, programs and assistance as possible so as to reduce the inmate population and ultimately save the tax payers money, and help improve society in general.

Why i love web comics

I think web comics are great for some of the following reasons. the first reason is varity, news papers are run by evil corporations, no really its true. The Universal Press Syndicate is in charge, meaning not just anyone can get a comic in the main news papers, its nuts! so anyway, we comics rule because there are amazing people doing amazing things all over the place, usually in some sort of niche that wouldn't fly in a mainstream newspaper, i mean come on, do you really think penny arcade would end in a national newspaper? NINE! (that's supposed to be no in german for those of you keeping score). But really i think where web comics get their edge is varity, xkcd (a boat of awesomeness btw) sometimes has one panel, sometimes has 5 rows of three panels, giving the author a full range to do whatever the hell they want, im really amazed the scott adams of dilbert fame, can somehow cram something really damn funny in three panels. Imange him having the freedom to have as many panels and all the partial comic nudity he wants! but of course his ass is owned by United media (probably an evil corp, not that i have any proof but its a safe bet) and they would never give him freedom to publish a webcomic, no matter how much awesome it would be made of. So in closing, web comics give artists the freedom to express themselves with all the space, content and partial nudity they want with out getting ink all over your hands. cha!

So i was walking through a local CVS totally filthy after another long day sand blasting when i heard a well dressed lady whisper under her breath to her son to stay away "from that dirty filthy man". Well after having a bad day at work i decided to open this ladies eyes a little, so i got in her face and i asked her if she's ever flown on an airplane, if she'd ever used power from a nuclear reactor, if she'd even benfited from military protection, is she knew anyone that had been on a ventilator, if she'd ever used a product that came on a truck, or a train or a boat. She kinda nodded her head so i told her that its people like me that make the parts that keep all of these great inventions going, We keep the plans from crashing, the reactors from melting down, the respirators working, so she should get down on her hands and knee's everyday and thank me for being willing to get this dirty to do my job right so she can sleep well at night knowing that the plated fuel flow valve in a 747 isn't going to flake of some plating, then jam causing the plane to crash obliterating her entire neighborhood......

I am a big fan of winter, I love the cold, I love the snow, i love walking around in a t-shirt when its below zero. Why do i love winter so much? I tell people it's because i'm from Canada, but that's really not true its a hell of a lot colder here in IN then it ever was in Nova Scotia. I guess it boils down to guts, any wuss can be a fan of the warm weather, a fair weather fan so to speak, but it takes a real man to enjoy the eyelid freezing death sentence of winter.

Some guy I work with: So this guy was really preaching the word, the true prophecy, there are a lot of other people out there preaching things that just make no sense at all.
Me: So let me get this strait, there are over 50 different "versions" of the Christian bible, and somewhere in between 30,000 and 50,000 different sects of Christianity, all claiming to have "The word" and are preaching the "Truth", so what makes you think this guy has the answer?

Me: Hello, i am just calling to say that i whole heartedly support the Sheriffs decision to stop evictions on foreclosed homes. I for one think that it is very important for our law enforcement personal to enforce the laws, after all the thin blue line is all that holds our society together, however in the face of banks randomly evicting people that are living in a home they'd rented for years, never missed a rent payment, are are now suddenly being forced out of their homes, this is unjust. Some people say the sheriff is being unamerican by not enforcing the law, i say there is nothing more American then refusing to enforce and unjust law, i believe we had a revolution about this very same issue. Boston tea party anyone?

Why i love Buck 65

Where did the love being? Well kids i guess it all started way back in the Ye Olde Countrye (Canada) when i was just a wee lad, maybe, im not really sure when i first heard him. I can say for sure it was my older brothers doing, he's always been a big influence on me and my music taste. Based on that i guess the reasons for my love is three fold, first off being I've been listing to buck for like 5 to 8 years which is a long ass time if you ask me, the second reason i have love is just how much i enjoy his music. There's so much variety in his music, mostly in the people he portrays, like in the song The Craftsman he raps/sings and a shoe shine guy in a train station, In his songs Riverbend 1-7 he sings as a guy living in a house boat along a river with a bunch of crazy neighbors, and in the video below (Shutterbuggin off the CD Situation, which i own, and by own i mean actually paid for, by the way its an awesome fucking CD) he's a pornographer. It just goes on like that, to me all Disturbed songs sound kinda the same, yea i know there all "different" but they all just seem to blend together to me. So much of his music is different, i mean really different, if it wasn't for his voice you'd swear they were all from different artists. Another thing i love is just the one liners like "the sun was shining and we were all stupid" If i ever get around to posting my journals from my year in Israel you'll find that around half of the titles are random samples from buck's songs. So what my favorite song? that's like asking someone whats there favorite word, there's just such a sea of choices you can't really do justice by picking one, so instead i will mention the only Buck 65 song i can't listen to, Its called "ice" and its another narrative. If you can take a moment and listen to it, then maybe you'll understand why i can't. Did i mention we were both from the same city in Canada? well not the same city but same area, i guess that's reason number three, familiarity. I've been reading his blogs, seeing his pictures, listing to his music, and twice (i wish it was more) met him in person, and its all just very very interesting to me. I'm not a stalker or anything (i swear!) but if you really enjoy something whats the harm in trying to know all about it? hummm?? And lets be honest here, the man as style, not like high fashion "look at me im walking around in a dress that's about your yearly salary", no this man as discount shopping point all over. Which of course makes me jealous, skinny who know how to dress can get away with such clothing murder it makes the rest of look like kids on a playground. To end this long ramble i shall quote from Buddy Wakefield (who i first saw at a buck 65 concert) "my town is cute in the ways that we worry about the gays fucking up out family values and the sanctity of marriage, yet we still let out childern watch television shows like Wife Swap, The bachelor, American idolatry and fox new!".

I once heard a story from the Holocaust. I don't remember the all the details but with a story like this the details really aren't that important. There were a group of standing in front of a very deep and wide pit, the Nazi's had lined up the entire Jewish population of the village on one side of the pit, and told them if they leaped over this huge pit they would live, but if they fell in they would be killed, and if they refused to jump they would also be gunned down. So people started jumping, and falling into and being gunned down. now there was the rabbi of the village, a very old man, he took one step and with a giant leap made it all the way over the pit to the other side, and he was followed by another man who he was unfamiliar with. (its been a while since I've heard this story so it might not make total sense here and there but the point im getting to does) So someone asks the rabbi how me managed to jump the distance over the pit. So the rabbi says "i saw in front of my my forefather Abraham holding hands with his son Issac who was holding hands with his sons, and they were all holding each others hands all the way down the line to my grandfather and my own father, and then we we jumped, each father pulling there son over the pit in one long unbroken line". So the rabbi turn to the other man and asks him how he managed to jump accross, and the man says rebbe, i held onto you!......... Anyway the point of this story is supposed to be that a (jewish) person is supposed to be aware of their heritage and where they come from or something. Man I really need to write these posts in one shot insted of over a few days.

So i was watching Dr. 90210 (not by choice mind you, i was drunk at them time i swear) and there was this mother and a daughter going in to get their lips plumped. Now i could take the easy way out and just bash them for not being happy with who they are, god made them blah blah blah. No i'm going to say something else i noticed, there are some parents that try to live there lives through their kids, either by having them be the person that they never were, or just to feel the success they might not have has. But what i think i saw last night was a mother trying to live her life along with her daughter, i guess trying to recapture her own misspent youth by trying to be her young daughets best friend. Now there is nothing wrong with being close with your kids, i wish more parents were, but i think i need to quote The Rock when i say know your role, be a mom not a girfriend.

Today is a triple bagger, first i would like to talk about hero's.

I guess you could put hero's in two categories. The first kind of hero gets up at 4am to drive an old lady to the airport to see her sick son, then goes to work and spends the whole day telling everyone about what he did and how nice of a guy he is.

The second type of hero gets up at 4am to drive an old lady to the airport to see her sick son, then goes to work and tells no one.

Last night i did something amazing, but as an exercise in being a different kind of person the only people who are ever going to know what happened are me and the other person, yes i know its not exactly like the second class of hero's, but we all have to have something to aspire to don't we?

well enough with the kiddy posts, time for something with a little more meat on it. In one of my many many day dreams during my "work" hours i thought what it would be like as an armed guard at an abortion clinic (yes, these thoughts go through my mind). Well basically my point of view is that i hope one day that men are responsible enough to keep it wrapped, women are responsible enough to take the proper precautions to keep from getting pregnant and that the whole issues of abortion goes away. Now back in the real world i firmly beileve that as long as abortion is legal in the united states I will support womens rights to their body. I think the problem people seems to face when i comes to abortion issues is the religious right's idea that they need to force everyone to believe what they do. I don't care if you don't belive dionsaurs existed, if you belive in satan or are a practising scientologist, i really could care less what you believe as long as your not trying to force your belief on other people. So if your against abortion, don't get one, but who are you to try and stop an amercian citizen from expressing their legal right to an abortion?

I often hear women complaining that they never get what they want, and I've found that there seems to be 2 main reasons why. The first reason is that women (or people in general for that matter) have no idea what they want! If you have no idea what you want then how are you supposed to get it?? I know that's rather obvious, but you would be surprised! The second thing I've noticed is that some women just seem to be willing to go along with whatever, which makes no sense in my opinion. I'm not here to talk about my bedroom life, but if were getting it on, and i ask a girl what she wants and all she says to me is "do whatever you want" well in that case your going to end up being very very disappointed, let me tell you! I'm not sure where else i was going to go with this, thats all for now!

I'd rather be lucky in love, because if your with someone you really love, and they really love you too, nothing in life can bring you down because you will always have that person to lean on and help bring you back up. If your lucky in life but not in love, well you can have the biggest mansion in the world, but if your there all alone and heart broken, all the toys in the world can't fill that kind of emptiness. A long story short i did something stupid it work, i called out our maintenance depart as the useless lazy morons that they are, of course i did this in a way that everyone in the company now knows of it, but i digress. After i sent out the work request i got called into the managers office and good a stern talking to about what i had written. Of course when i write two polite work requests jack all gets done, so i guess sometimes when your the low man on the totem pole you need to stamp your feet and make some noise to get the attention that you need. Anyway i know what i did was stupid, but again im not getting to the point. The point is that some of the other people that work with me told me that they supported what i did and said it needed to be done and they'll stick up for me if they come at me again about what i wrote. which is a really good feeling because it sucks to stick your neck out its nice to know that there are people on your side. i guess thats it.

Protesting is fun, let me tell you. The problem in the states is who is protesting, a bunch of college students and hippies! here's the skinny, no one (people that actually matter in society) really cares what a bunch of hippies and college students think. Remember the WTO protests in Seattle? yea? wonderful, anyway nothing in this country will change as long as the only people that protest are the people that are on the margins of society anyway, people that no one really cares about. Basically what I'm saying is that nothing will change till the lawyers and the doctors are out on the streets in protesting.

why blog?

its a simple question really, why blog? there are millions of people out there pouring out content to blogs and forums and groups all over the internet all the time, so what makes me think i have anything to contribute? well the short answer is i don't, no big truths, no insane philosophy's to spread. The real reason I'm bloggin is for me, i spend a lot of time in my head turning over thoughts and having imaginary conversations with people and it's just time to let some of it out, not for anyone else out there but for me. Moving on, this blog will have i guess a few distinct types of posts; the first will be just rants about whatever, the second will be the various meandering fantasies that i have during the day while by brain shuts off during my boring ass job, another may involve some of the journals that i wrote while i was in Israel. see after high school i spent a year abroad in Israel and i wrote a journal while i was there, i might just do some editing to them and post them here. lastly i will be blogging about religious Judaism, yes i know thats a random thing, but its been a hugr part of my life and there are some things i need to express about it. as i said this blog is for me. Well that's all i have for now, for the two people who will ever read this enjoy!
